For the first time in years, I have as much free time as a girl, or anyone for that matter, could want. And I have no idea what to do with it all.Normally, free time means shopping or reading. And I've done both. But when you have days, literally days, where nothing is planned or really expected of you, you start to grow a little listless. Or at least I do.
I know that I am VERY lucky to get this opportunity to have a long vacation but I'm anxious to get started with classes, especially since I am very excited to be taking them!
So what have I been doing?
Let's see.
I filled out HR paperwork for my new job and found out what "tuition remission" means in real world terms.
I saw How To Train Your Dragon 2 (not in 3D I am sad to say) and loved it.
Had popcorn for lunch and brownies for breakfast.
I made cupcakes and an entire Shepherd's pie from scratch.
I've watched multiple back to back episodes of Supernatural and caught up on the rest of my favorite CW shows (Omg, Klaus!)
I got a library card (woot!) and four relatively thick books to occupy my time.
I've been terrorized by a trio of ten year olds on a daily basis...they really need a longer recess or something at school.Tuesday date nights with Kosha for Pretty Little Liars! (#planetalison)
I'm in charge of the "Word of the Day" for my cousins: today was "deter".
Played catch for over a half hour with Amy and loved how good the mitt felt on my hand again.
I created a superb hopscotch mural with Amy (which only slightly annoyed my uncle).
All in all, I am glad to be starting my new job on Monday. As fun as summer can be, I definitely need a more firm schedule to keep me on track. Less Phineas and Ferb and more Candace.Oh and it hit 95 degrees here today with humidity hovering in the 60% range...not pleasant for this snow lover. Although it is pretty cool to experience living with a little sister again. Especially since Amy has a lot of the same quirks as my own. You know, like sorting the food on her plate and her sense of humor. Quite endearing yet scary. Guess she got more of those Doyon genes that we realized. At least she isn't named Grace.
Shout out to my mom (if you're reading this) as a special thank you for the wonderful care package. You truly are an amazing woman and I love that you make me feel cared for and comforted even from hundreds of miles away. A few odds and ends plus a little extra. You're never too old for a care package from mom! And I hope to continue receiving them for years to come :)
Tomorrow, I think Amy and I will hit the mall to avoid the muggy and potentially rainy day that is on its way. I will try to avoid buying more underwear from Victoria's Secret.
And I really need to read "Illusion" by Sherrilyn Kenyon before I lose my mind!
What I'm reading: Horns by Joe Hill
Progress: Not very far
Thoughts so far: An interesting psychological journey mixing present and past events, not unlike "Dark Places" by Gillian Flynn, but less disturbing so far. I'm excited to see where the mystery will lead me!
love tuesday date nights :)
